utter is an acclaimed streetwear brand from Chicago founded by Casper Wright in 2015. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Wright launched his career in the world of fashion as a means to support himself during high school. Among his early successes, “The Hot Water Hoodie” draws from the struggle to pay his hot water bill. This intimate, personal touch is what separates Gutter from the banal.
APPROACH
Needless to say, when Gutter set out to design a small batch of limited-edition canvas blazers we were proud to contribute.
To bring his vision to life, Gutter needed to silk screen-print on a textile fabric. After diligent experimentation, we developed our own unique process of printing on the textile to create a seamless repeating pattern.
WORK
// TEXTILE PRINTING //
The resulting composition was as classic as it was cutting edge. Screen-printed geometric patterns adorn the textile fabric creating a tribal mosaic.
RESULTS
Patterns of black shapes criss cross the light grey material giving it an almost animal print look. Buttons connect the bottom to the popped collar. A pair of pockets unconventionally rest just above the belly.
The only thing that could have made the jacket any more timeless was for it to be worn by the likes of Chance the Rapper — speaking of which — Channo rocked it at the premiere for the Lion King movie :) Rumor has it, Simba wants one.
